DUI lawyer must serve DUI sentence
A local DUI lawyer must now spend 100 days in jail after violating probation on his own DUI charge.
Paducah attorney James Grant King entered a guilty plea in McCracken County district court.
The plea revokes part of King's suspended 300 day jail sentence.
The probation came from July 13 guilty pleas on DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.
Police arrested King June 2 in McCracken County after finding a full beer and a half empty beer in his car. He then told officers that he left his six-year-old son at home alone.
A plea agreement let King serve only 30 days in jail providing he stay out of trouble.
But Tuesday he admitted that he drove in February on a suspended license.
That's when King hit a 58-year-old Lone Oak man riding a motorized wheelchair on Lone Oak Road at Mohawk Drive.
King's attorney, Will Kautz says King's law license is intact and should not be affected by the incidents.
