Democrats say Romney favors Ryan's plans for Medicare

DENVER (AP) - Republicans will be looking today to shift the focus of the presidential campaign back to the broader economy.
Mitt Romney's choice of Paul Ryan as his running mate over the weekend brought attention to Ryan's plans to overhaul Medicare and to cut trillions of dollars from social programs. And Democrats are charging that Romney supports those plans.
Romney is saying only that he and Ryan want to "preserve and protect Medicare" -- and that Ryan has some ideas that are "very different than the president's."
Romney will be in Ohio on the final day of his multistate bus tour. Ryan will be courting voters and donors in Colorado and Nevada.
