Dive team recovers body of missing boater

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. - The body of a missing boater, who went missing on Rend Lake Sunday evening, was found by the Illinois Conservation Police and the Rend Lake Search & Rescue dive team Monday evening.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says the body of 54-year-old Alan Saiz of Sesser, IL was found around 6:40 Monday night.

Investigators found the body in the Gun Creek area of Rend Lake.  He was frist reported missing just after 5:00 Sunday evening.

Officials say Saiz was on a boat with a woman, when he fell out and disappeared.  The woman was not injured in the incident.

Investigation into the death of Saiz is ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the White County Morgue in Carmi.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. - Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says the lllinois Department of Natural Resources is searching for a missing fisherman. 

Jones said that on Sunday that a man from Sesser, Illinois and a woman in a boat ran out of fuel, then the man fell out. 

It happened in the Gun Creek area of Rend Lake.  The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is using sonar to locate the man.

The woman in the boat wasn't injured.  Investigators aren't releasing the name of the man or the woman.
