The Paducah Board of Commissioners has put the removal of Noble Park Lake's Duck Island on hold and will review all options.

Paducah city crews and a contractor were scheduled to start removing the small island today. City staff will now provide the mayor and city commission with other options for the island.

The city says the original plan to remove Duck Island was due to erosion, a problem they say has "greatly reduced" the island over the years. Exposure to the elements has also led to deterioration of the decorative building on the island, including damage to the building's windmill last year.
