AURORA, Ky. - Except for yellow caution tape, you can't really tell there's been fire damage to Aurora BBQ. But the owner says the inside tells a different story. He's had to close but he promises it's only temporary.
"This is pretty well where they put it out. They blew a million gallons of water in there," McKnight said as he points out the damage.
As McKnight gets his first daytime glimpse of the fire damage outside, it's hard for him not to be in the kitchen working. "We would have had business no doubt. I'm sure there's other places for them to eat, but somebody's feeing them - supposed to be me," he said.
McKnight would like to put this year behind him. First, he said the closing of the Eggners Ferry Bridge slowed business. Now, the fire is keeping their open sign turned off.
"I just want to get going. I'm about going stir crazy already," McKnight told Local 6. He said business was turning around and fall is normally his busiest time of the year. But, the yellow caution tape means he won't be seeing green for awhile.
"It's just starting to click and this couldn't have come at a worse time. If this happened two months ago, it would have been a better time," he said.
