First day to file for May primary
McCracken County, KY - It's months away, but the race for McCracken County Judge Executive is shaping up.
Wednesday was the first day to file an application for the May 2014 primary.
Among this year's candidates for McCracken County Judge Executive is former Circuit Judge Jeff Hines.
After 22 years as a gavel judge he's hung up his robe and ready for a new challenge.
"The one promise I'll make is that I'll do the best I can as a trained lawyer, follow the law in all regards to county government and that will further run a transparent office," says Jeff Hines.
The incumbent judge executive, Van Newberry hasn't officially committed but says he hopes to continue the positive trend he says his office has had the last 8 years.
"I think we've got a winning formula now, I'd like to push a few more projects through in the next few years and then hand it over to somebody else," says Newberry.
Seven applications were filed today including: incumbents Ronnie Freeman for commissioner in the 1st district, Bill Adams for Jailer, Dan Sims for coroner and Jon Hayden for Sheriff.
The filing deadline is January 28th at 4:00 p.m.
