Crash kills driver, shuts down interstateMARION, Ill. - UPDATE: The Saturday night crash in Williamson County resulted in the death of a driver. Illinois State Trooper David Sneed says by Monty J. Parks, 46, from Galatia, was traveling northbound on I-57 when his Dodge Ram left the roadway. Parks' truck then entered the center median. He was ejected from the truck. The northbound lanes were shut down for approximately 3 hours but they are now back open. Trooper Sneed says Parks was not wearing his seat belt.
Original story: A wreck on Northbound I-57 near mile marker 55 has shut down a stretch of the expressway. The wreck happened just north of Marion, Illinois. The on-ramp on I-57 North from Highway 13 is also shut down. Northbound traffic is reopened at mile marker 59. Only a few details are released about the wreck at this time.
