FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. - The 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division is showcasing its colors to mark its upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.

The color casing ceremony, which will be held this afternoon at the post, is an Army tradition before a unit deploys.

About 1,900 soldiers from the brigade will be deploying to help advise Afghan security forces as NATO forces prepare to withdraw.

About half the brigade's troops will remain at the installation during the deployment.

The brigade deployed to eastern Afghanistan in 2010.
