HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a scam involving automated phone calls.

The sheriff's office says it has received several complaints about automated calls telling residents someone has paid for a life alert system for them. The phone numbers from which the calls originated were found by the sheriff's office to be inactive.

Sheriff Frank Latham is reminding everyone never to give out personal information over the phone. You may also add your number to the Do Not Call registry by contacting to Kentucky Attorney General's Office at (502) 696-5300.
