Humvee, armored truck approved and acquired
PADUCAH, Ky - The Humvee and armored truck that have been spotted around town have been approved by municipal order, and have not cost the city any money in acquiring the two vehicles.
The Mayor and Commissioners approved the acquisition of the vehicles from the Defense Logistics Agency's Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO).
The Police department will use the Humvee during disasters as well as by the SWAT team and Bomb Squad, and the armored truck in situations where the SWAT team or Bomb squad need to get closer to dangerous situations that involve gunfire or explosives.
The Humvee is a 2008 edition with 5380 miles, originally costing more than $39,000; the armored truck is a 2008 edition with 4893, originally costing $412,000.
