Hundreds of thousands of marijuana plants burned
OBION COUNTY, Tenn. — Ever seen a half a billion dollar bonfire?
Take a look at the photo on this page. That's what 362,000 marijuana plants on fire looks like.
The picture comes from Obion County Sheriff Jerry Vastbinder, who said those plants have an estimated street value of $434 million.
He said they used 400 gallons of diesel fuel to burn the plants, covering a 50-yard strip of ground.
It took investigators almost two days to remove the plants from a massive outdoor growing operation in Obion County, Tennessee.
They found irrigation, housing and even showers at the 10-acre site.
Vastbinder said he has a number of leads but so far there are no arrests.
