Ill. School Performance

This year, under the federal No Child Left Behind act, only 62 of 863 Illinois districts achieved growth benchmarks.

However, state leaders say the drop of over 100 districts resulted from the Board of Education's decision to toughen the grading scale for grade schools.

According to the Board of Education's Report Card released this morning, 59 percent of students meet or exceed state criteria on the ISAT, while 53 percent meet or exceed expectations on the PSAT.

46 percent of students are ready for college coursework and 83 percent graduate high school within four years.
