Illinois bans synthetic marijuana

Helen Thompson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois is the latest state to ban the sale of synthetic marijuana, or "K2".

Also called "legal pot", K2 is frequently marketed as incense or potpourri.

But thanks to a new law signed by Governor Pat Quinn, K2 will be a controlled substance as of January 1.

K2 contains a chemical similar to THC, a compound found in marijuana, and can create a high when smoked or inhaled.

K2 is sold in smoke shops and gas stations around the state.

definitely what the Illinois legislature needs to be focused on. Finding more ways to control people's lives is far more important then dealing with the monstrosity of a fiscal problem they have not even attempted to fix.
