UNION COUNTY, Ill. - An Indiana doctor is in jail without bond in southern Illinois after police arrested him on murder charges.

Police in Omaha, Nebraska say 40-year-old Dr. Anthony Garcia of Terre Haute, Indiana was arrested Monday during a traffic stop in Union County, Illinois.

Garcia is being held in Jackson County on four counts of 1st Degree Murder and four counts of Using a Weapon to Commit a Felony in Nebraska.

Investigators believe Garcia shot and killed a Chreighton University student professor, then stabbed his wife to death in 2003. Another professor's son and housekeeper were fatally stabbed in 2008.

Omaha's police chief says Garcia appeared to be intoxicated and had a 45-caliber handgun when Illinois State Police arrested him.

Garcia is scheduled to appear in Union County court Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
