PADUCAH, Ky. - Jackson Purchase Energy Corp. says rates will increase by 21 percent beginning Tuesday.

The announcement of a rate increase came earlier this year when the company learned their supplier's rates were changing.

If a customer's power bill is $106 this month, that same bill will cost $128 in the next billing cycle.

Jackson Purchase executives say the supplier's rate increased because one of their customers discontinued its contract.

The company serves 30,000 customers in six western Kentucky counties.
