PADUCAH — More than six dozen people were put behind bars Wednesday to raise money for charity.

Texas Roadhouse in Paducah was full of "jailbirds" asking to be bailed out for charity.

Each of the 78 jailbirds had a goal of $1,000, including Local 6's own Jason Hibbs.

The money raised will go toward the Muscular Dystrophy Association to research for a cure and to fund fun events for those affected by the disease.

Regional Director Kyla Evans explained the importance of this event.

"The reason why we have lockups like these, we are a private organization, not funded by the government," she said. "Everything we bring in is by private donations, by these jailbirds."

Hibbs reached the halfway mark, raising $500 so far.

The local MDA event already surpassed its goal of $30,000.
