FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Kentucky Department of Education is gearing up for Kentucky Safe Schools Week, which will take place next week.

Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday recently signed a proclamation declaring October 20-26 as Safe Schools Week statewide.

The purpose of the weeklong effort is to improve safety in schools by educating students, staff and others about issues that affect school safety. These include bullying and cyber-bullying, substance abuse and gang violence.
