LYON COUNTY, Ky. - New details involving a Kentucky county's fight against FEMA.

You could call it a win for Lyon County and some of its residents.

On the county's Facebook page, Judge Executive Wade White posted that FEMA will redraw the flood maps and reimburse people who contest the maps.

Following the 2011 flood, the federal government redrew the county's flood maps requiring homeowners to purchase expensive flood insurance or pay for an engineering survey to prove their homes did not need the coverage.

Residents and county leaders have been fighting back ever since.

Judge Executive White said the bad news here is that it will likely take a year or more to complete the process.

He said that he's contacted Kentucky's senators to hopefully encourage FEMA to speed up the process.
