LEDBETTER, Ky. - It's a bridge close to the hearts and homes of many , but is it now a bridge too far gone?

An inspection report of the Ledbetter/ US 60 Tennessee River Bridge was released this afternoon. The report was compiled on October 20, 2011, and details the structural issues of the bridge.

The new bridge, which is under construction 1,500 feet upstream from the existing structure, is on track for completion in mid-2014.

For now, the current bridge has a weight limit of 3 tons, or 6,000 pounds per vehicle.

The 6,000 pound limit means some passenger vehicles, and many trucks and vans may be too heavy. Some manufacturers provide curb weight information via their company website.  Another option is to enter the make and model of your vehicle followed by “curb weight” into a search engine.
