PADUCAH - A long-standing Christmas tradition in Paducah is drawing in big crowds. The man who lives at 115 Herzog ln has been decorating a very large tree outside his home for 25 years. During the month of December, hundreds of cars a night drive through his neighborhood to see it.

Charles Bechtold, says the tree first started outside inside his home as a decoration.

"That was 25 years ago," says Charles. "When the season was over I replanted it outside and now it's 33 feet tall."

It makes his wife nervous each year but just after Thanksgiving, this 76 year old, climbs inside a bucket tree and strings 12,000 lights around the tree. In the center a wooden cross that also lights up.

"It's my small token, my thank you to Jesus," says Charles.

He lights up the tree every night at sunset and turns it off around 10:00pm. He leave the display up for a week after Christmas.
