PADUCAH - A Padcah woman has been arrested after a pharmacist realized she had several prescriptions for controlled substances written by the same dentist.

26 year-old Magan McGrew, of High Street, was arrested and charged with 34 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or false statement.

The pharmacist called Detective John Tolliver, and he ran a computer check to find out that a local dentist allegedly wrote several prescriptions for McGrew on one day, and then several more on the following day. These were for hydrocodone and diazepam. Each prescription had been filled at several local pharmacies.

As Tolliver continued his investigation, he was notified by the pharmacist that a woman identifying herself as an employee of the dentist's office had called in another prescription for hydrocodone. Tolliver set up surveillance and arrest McGrew as she attempted o pick up the drugs.

McGrew later admitted to having called in the prescriptions and using the credentials of a local dentist that she formerly worked for. She is being held in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
