PADUCAH, Ky. - 71 years old.  20 years on the job.  Countless pizzas delivered over the years.

Wednesday was Jerry Vandevelde's last pizza delivery as a Pizza Inn employee.

The 71 year old is hanging up his delivery hat after 20 years on the job.

One of his last deliveries to Paducah Bank paid off with a $100 tip in honor of his retirement!

Vandevelde's boss says his knowledge of the area and people cannot be replaced.

"He got to know all of his customers real well.  Really when you've been around as long as he has, he'd know addresses, know people's names, know what they ordered, stuff like that," Pizza Inn owner Larry Rust said.

Pizza Inn's vice president of operations Steve Link flew into Paducah to award Vandevelde's with a company watch.

Vandevelde also received a plaque honoring his service and a pretty nice final paycheck.

As for retirement?  He says he'll likely "piddle" around the house and keep himself busy.
