Maiden Alley Cinema reaches initial fundraising goal
PADUCAH, Ky. - There's good news for fans of Maiden Alley Cinema in Paducah: their fundraising goal has been reached.
The theater, like many others across the country, must convert from their current 35 millimeter projector to a digital system. But that will cost $90,000 to complete.
On April 12, they began a campaign on Kickstarter.com in hopes of raising $35,000. Paducah Film Society President Robyn Shapiro tells the Paducah Sun that on June 11, they broke that goal by raising $36,683.01.
More than 300 people donated money online.
The theater must raise about $40,000 more to afford the new system. Executive Director Landee Bryant tells the newspaper some of that will come from grants that have yet to be awarded.
