MARION, Ky – Mr. Blair Winders, a former Crittenden County High School teacher, has been arrested on multiple sex offenses including the possession of child pornography and 1st degree sexual abuse, Sergeant Dean Patterson tells Local 6.

According to special prosecutor Raymond McGee, Winders is facing up to 20 years after resigning from his position at Crittenden County High School last week.

Superintendent Dr. Rachel Yarbrough said she was disappointed to hear about the allegations and launched an investigation immediately.

"We educators are held to a high standard of personal and professional conduct and we must, individually and collectively, take that responsibility very seriously," she said. " When a teacher violates that high standard of personal and professional conduct, there are serious consequences and repercussions."

According to Yarbrough, Winders was a tenured math teacher. He also coached golf and middle school basketball.  He's been with the district for 14 years.

October 31st, the Crittenden County Grand Jury convened at 11 o'clock to end with a 56 count indictment on Winders, 37.

Detective Matt Foster began the investigation into the relationship between Winders and a female high school student.

Yarbrough said, "We will continue to hold the safety and well-being of every student in our school district as a top priority every day."

Winders is charged with sexual abuse in the 1st degree, use of a minor under 18 in a sexual performance, prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor regarding sexual activity, possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and distribution of obscene matter to a minor, and tampering with physical evidence.
