BENTON, Ill. - Police have a suspect in custody in connection with a deadly weekend shooting in southern Illinois.

Monday morning, Benton, Illinois police announced the arrest of 39-year-old Donald A. Lee of Elkville, Illinois. He's facing two weapons-related charges, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Friday night police responded to the parking lot of Vickee's Card Shop on East Main Street in Benton, Illinois. That's where they found 23-year-old Brittany Andrews with a gunshot wound to her head. She later died at a hospital.

Police are remaining tight-lipped about the investigation as they try to piece together what may have happened.

Farewell messages on the parking lot are the only signs Monday of what was a deadly weekend. The owner of Vickee's Card Shop didn't want to go on camera, but said she's sorry to hear of what happened behind her business, in a quiet part of town.

While Benton Police aren't saying much, others are.

The owner of a bar across the street told Local 6 that Brittany Andrews and Donald Lee were in his place together Friday night, but he told them to leave because they were arguing.

Our cameras caught investigators paying a visit to that bar Monday afternoon.

Police have yet to comment on the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

Donald Lee remains behind bars at the Franklin County Jail. As of Monday afternoon, formal charges hadn't yet been filed by the Franklin County State's Attorney.
