Man faces child abuse charges

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. — A man faces child abuse charges after a 5-month-old in his care was hospitalized with near fatal injuries.

EMS broght the child to Lourdes Hospital April 14 because she was unresponsive and not breathing. The child was stabilized and sent to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville.

During the investigation, detectives learned the child had a fractured skull and retinal hemorrhaging. Doctors said the injuries were not accidental.

Brian Baker, 29, faces criminal abuse charges and is lodged in the McCracken Regional Jail.

The investigation is still ongoing.
