PADUCAH, Ky. - No charges have been filed yet after a shooting in Paducah, Kentucky Tuesday.

The Paducah Police Department tells Local 6 it happened around 1 a.m. at a home on Oakcrest Drive.

When officers made it to the house, they found 39-year-old Salaam Muhammad with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Muhammad's stepson, 19-year-old Anthony M. Bryant, told police that he walked in on his stepfather choking his wife, Shataka Muhammad.  Bryant ran to another room to get the handgun.  When he came back, Muhammad started fighting with him.  That's when police say Bryant shot Muhammad.

He was taken to Lourdes Hospital.  He's in stable condition.

Paducah Police say they've spoken with the McCracken County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and have not yet decided to file charges.  They're still investigating the case.
