HICKMAN COUNTY, Ky. - The man accused of trying to kill law enforcement officers in early July is back in Kentucky.

On July 7, 56-year-old Keith Dildine was involved in a shootout with police.  On that day, Kentucky State Police, Fulton Police and South Fulton Police responded to a shots fired call at the Royal Bridge Apartments.

When they arrive, investigators say Dildine came out of an apartment and fired his handgun at Trooper Mark Franklin.  Trooper Franklin fired back and hit Dildine several times.

An ambulance took Dildine to Regional Medical Center in Fulton, and he was later airlifted to MED Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Last week, he was released from the hospital, arrested by Memphis Police who then turned him over to the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Friday, Dildine was extradited back to Kentucky.  He faces two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder of a police officer.

He was lodged in the Fulton County Detention Center.
