Marion, Illinois officer reaches deal with city in brutality investigation
MARION, Ill. - One of two Marion, Illinois police officers suspected of mistreating a man in custody has reached a deal with the city that avoids disciplinary action.
Police Chief John Eibeck didn't detail the specifics of the agreement, but the officer remains on paid leave as the FBI investigates the alleged claims of brutality.
The department has said its in-house video shows how the two officers handled an individual taken into custody on February 10.
They say it did appear to violate state law and department policy.
