Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the Local 6 area

Paducah is getting ready for an annual march this morning.

Starting at 10 a.m., the march will begin at the Robert Cherry Civic Center and head to the Martin Luther King Junior monument on Martin Luther King Drive for a wreath laying ceremony.
The march will start at 10 a.m., with the wreath-laying ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. The annual luncheon will follow the wreath-laying ceremony beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $5 for youth and students.
This year, Reverend Joe Beale of Broadway Methodist Chruch is the luncheon's speaker.
In Carbondale, the NAACP's 32nd annual MLK COmmemorative breakfast will take place this morning at the SIU Student Center ballroom. Tickets are $5 each. The theme is "Celebrating the Dream 50 Years Later". US Congressman Bill Enyart and SIU's Associate Dean Dr. Royce Burnette will give a keynote address.
SIU will also host a day of service. The events promotes the spirit of volunteerism across campus and into the community. 
Everyone is invited to honor Doctor King's legacy  through volunteering, donating to charities and performing random acts of kindness.
