Mattoon Community Fire Department to receive $10K in grant funding
CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ky. - The U.S. Department of Agriculture will provide $10,000 in grant funds to the Mattoon Community Fire Department to purchase a pumper fire truck.
The purchase of a used pumper fire truck is expected to allow for more effective fire protection service in rural Crittenden County.
“The firefighters with the Mattoon Community Fire Department are providing a critical service for the residents of Crittenden County,” USDA Rural Development State Director Tom Fern said. “I am pleased that USDA is able to contribute to the purchase of upgraded fire protective equipment to increase their fire protection capabilities.”
The funding comes from USDA's Rural Development funds, which are distributed to communities around the country in an effort to strengthen the rural economy.
