Area constable charged with sex crimes
PADUCAH – Kentucky State Police have arrested and charged a McCracken County elected official for sex crimes following a three month investigation.
Just after 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Mark Hayden turned himself in to state police detectives at the McCracken County Jail. Hayden currently serves as a McCracken County Constable, but is not employed by or related to McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden.
Kentucky State Police received an initial complaint of sexual abuse by Hayden in September. The alleged victim was 15 at the time of the offense, and the abuse is alleged to have occurred over a period of months beginning in February of 2011.
Hayden is charged with 1 count of 1st degree sexual abuse, 2 counts of 3rd degree sodomy, and 1 count of 3rd degree rape. Hayden was lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center.
This is a developing story, and the investigation is ongoing by Detective Brett Miller with the Kentucky State Police.
