McCracken County Commissioners vote to lower county tax rates
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - The McCracken County Fiscal Court voted Monday night to lower the county's tax rates this year.
According to the Paducah Sun, commissioners voted to lower the rates for real estate and tangible property about 0.5 percent lower than the 2012 rates. The change comes out to about $2 on a home assessed at $100,000.
Judge Executive Van Newberry says the impending closure of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant and the loss of its 1,100 workers helped convince commissioners to go with a lower rate.
