Motorcycle crash kills driver, shuts down part of interstate

UPDATE: ISP identified the driver as 43 year-old Michael Jordan of O'Fallon, Illinois.  The passenger was 50 year-old Pamela Schulter, also of O'Fallon, Illinois.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. - A deadly motorcycle crash shut down a portion of Interstate 57 Saturday afternoon.

Illinois State Trooper Joey Watson says the driver lost control while turning off the norhbound milemarker 96 exit.  Watson says the driver hit a construction guardrail and died.

A female passenger was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The interstate is back open.  The names of those involved haven't been released, pending family notification.
