9 dead, 2 in stable condition following Muhlenberg Co. house fire

UPDATE (3:11 p.m.): The names of the victims of the house fire in Muhlenberg County have been released by the Kentucky State Police.

36 year-old Chad Watson and 11 year-old Kylie Watson were airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Both are listed in stable condition.

The deceased include: 35 year-old LaRae Watson, 15 year-old Madison Watson, 14 year-old Kaitlyn Watson, 13 year-old Morgan Watson, 9 year-old Emily Watson, 8 year-old Samuel Watson, 6 year-old Raegan Watson, 4 year-old Mark Watson, and 4 year-old Nathaniel Watson.

The Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville confirmed that all nine died of smoke inhalation.

Investigators with the Kentucky State Police and the State Fire Marshal's Office have ruled this fire accidental. It appears that an electric baseboard heater in a bedroom ignited and the fire spread from there. Authorities are still investigating the fire at this time.



Multiple fatalities have been confirmed after a house fire in Muhlenberg County.

Authorities say it happened around 2 a.m. off Doss Road in the Graham-Greenville area.

Kentucky State Police says six have been confirmed dead and three are unaccounted for. The coroner had previously confirmed 9 deaths. KSP confirms to us children are among those killed.

Two people were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Those patients are one adult and one child. No word on their condition.

Troopers say crews have not determined what caused the fire but say it is not being considered suspicious.​

They say recovery efforts are underway.
