PADUCAH, Ky. - A project to improve a road and build a connector road in McCracken County has the green light to move forward.

Paducah City Commissioners agreed Tuesday night to buy a two-acre property on Concord Avenue for $500,000.

The road project includes widening Olivet Church Road and building a connector road from New Holt Road next to Kentucky Oaks Mall.

City Manager Jeff Pederson hopes the road will reduce congestion along Interstate 24 and US 60.

The land will be divided into three sections, with the road running through the middle.

The sale must go through before the state provides final funding for the $8.5 million project.
