One dead following motorcycle crash

PADUCAH - A retired Ballard County deputy sheriff was killed this morning in a wreck involving his motorcycle and a car at U.S. 60-Hinkleville Road and Olivet Church Road.

William T. Coplen was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash shortly after 8:30 a.m. today.

Nellie Devine told police she was turning left onto Olivet Church Road from U.S. 60 and didn’t see the on-coming motorcycle. Coplen was unable to stop and hit Devine’s Toyota Corolla in the passenger side.

Devine and her two passengers were transported to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment of apparent minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
