One dead from Franklin mining accident

UPDATE: Prelimary autopsy results in the investigation of the death of Dallas Dwaine Travelstead reveal he died from blunt compression trauma to his chest, abdomen, spine, and pelvis.

MARION, IL -- A coal miner working at the Sugar Camp M-Class Mine in Eastern Frankling County has died as a result of injuries sustained from a mining accident.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler said he was notified of a fatality related to a mining accident Monday afternoon.

36 year-old Dallas Dwaine Travelstead, of Marion, was pronounced dead at the Franklin Hospital Emergency Room. An autopsy will be performed Tuesday afternoon.

Further information and details into the mining accident is under investigation of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration.

Mr. Travelstead leaves a wife and two children.
