PADUCAH, Ky. - Paducah police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a train early this morning on Paducah’s south side.

An employee of P&L Railroad told police he was spotting for a train engineer when he saw a body on the railroad tracks adjacent to Clark’s River Road behind Lowe’s.

Det. Anthony Copeland said investigators determined Jacolby D. Askew had been hit by an earlier train, but the crew of that train apparently was unaware. That train is enroute to Centralia, Ill.

Copeland said Centralia detectives will interview the crew, but foul play is not suspected.
