Paducah teen charged in Noble Park hit-and-run pleads not guilty

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - A Paducah teen pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to charges in the hit-and-run that injured a doctor.

Investigators say 18-year-old William Hayes, Jr., was driving the car that hit Dr. Jay Pitman while the doctor was riding his bike in Noble Park on August 18. Pitman suffered a brain hemorrhage and a fractured shoulder.

Hayes faces charges of 1st Degree Assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Criminal Mischief. A grand Jury indicted Hayes last Friday.

Hayes admitted to police in August that he was driving the car and said he smoked marijuana and took prescription medication shortly before the crash.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for November 7 at 9:30 a.m.
