Pedestrian fatally involved in train accident
UPDATE: The Franklin County coroner says Jackson died from a high cervical spine fracture as a result of multiple blunt impact trauma. Marty Lefler says alcohol is suspected to have been a factor.
WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. - A man was fatally involved in a train accident while trying to walk across the tracks.
Thursday evening, Carl F. Jackson, 50 went around the gates and tried to cross in front of a southbound train.
The victim's body was found more than 60 yards from the incident, just west of the 100 block of Short street.
Mr. Jackson was pronounced dead on the scene.
An autopsy will be scheduled.
