AURORA, Ky. - For those considering a little siteseeing on the US 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge, consider that it might cost more than a few mintues of time.

Police agencies are planning to issue citations to spectators who have made their way onto the bridge to see the damage.

Friday, Jan. 27, highways officials warned the public to stay off the remainder of the bridge due to safety concerns.

At one point Sunday afternoon, the Coast Guard reported several hundred people out on the structure.

Transportation Cabinet officials would like to remind the public of the possible danger of walking out on the remaining section of the bridge, as well as the legality. Please stay off of the bridge until the KYTC issues a statement otherwise.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday night the cargo ship Delta Mariner struck one of the bridge spans, knocking the section into Kentucky Lake and wrapping steel and concrete across the bow of the ship.  There were no fatalities during the impact.
