PADUCAH — Police closed down a private club Friday after a raid.

Detectives with the Paducah Police Department’s Drug and Vice Enforcement Unit initiated an investigation after receiving complaints of illegal alcohol sales at Ebony Ltd.

They were joined about 1 p.m. Friday by the city fire marshal, a city building inspector and officials with the McCracken County office of the Health Department.

They say a search and inspection of the premises revealed health code and building code violations, and the business was shut down.

According to police, officers seized a substantial amount of liquor and beer, along with evidence of smoking in the club.

The business does not have a license to sell alcohol.

Charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.
