Quilt show visitors have arrived
PADUCAH — It's Christmas in April for both retailers and quilters, also know as the "American Quilters Society show and contest" for those not in the know.
The show kicks off Tuesday night but thousands of people, some from California, Florida and even as far away as Japan and Germany are already here to see the marvelous quilts and shop Paducah.
People from all walks of life strolled the streets of downtown Paducah, looking for deals and snatching up their favorite fabrics.
"Excited" is a word you'll hear a lot this week as store owners like Jo Cook prepare for what they describe as the busiest week in Paducah.
"I enjoy meeting the quilters and finding out where they're from," Cook said. "I just had a couple come in California and it's just really interesting to see how far they've come."
The quilt show officially kicks off tomorrow night with the awards presentation at the Carson Four Rivers Center. That show begins at 5:30 p.m. and costs $15.
We will reveal the best of show winner on Local 6 at 10 p.m.
