MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky.-  A recycle program through Dream Green is now giving students a chance to do their part to protect the environment and earn money for their schools.

It's called the Dream Machine Recycle Rally. It's sponsored by PepsiCo, Waste Management and Keep America Beautiful, that utilizes www.greenopolis.com. It's free for schools to sign up, but they must have at least 90 students enrolled. All of the rules and regulations are at www.dreammachinerecyclerally.com.

St. Mary Elementary is one of the first schools in the Paducah area to sign up. Second grade teacher Kelli King saw the program as a great opportunity to teach students about the environment while earning money for their school.

"We're helping the students become a better person, we're helping the community with community involvement and we're helping the earth by recycling," she said.

Once a school is signed up a scanner, scale, software, and recycling bin is shipped out. The scanner and software help schools keep track of every bottle and can that is brought in.

The top prize is a $50,000 Dream Green school make over.

The contests for the rally will run from September 12 through April 30.
