Reidland man arrested in connection with weekend convenience store robbery
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - A man police say robbed a Hucks convenience store early Sunday morning is behind bars.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says the man in surveillance video released earlier this week is 24-year-old James Austin Callahan.
Detectives say Callahan walked into the store around 1 a.m. Sunday, showed the clerk a small handgun and asked for money.
Captain Mike Carter says officers arrested Callahan at an apartment in Carbondale, Illinois on Tuesday afternoon.
Carter says search warrants on both the apartment in Carbondale and Callahan's home on Thornberry Drive in Reidland turned up evidence linking him to the robbery. Police aren't saying what that evidence is at this time.
Callahan is charged with 1st Degree Robbery.
