Rep. Coursey files countersuit
BENTON, Ky. - State Rep. Will Coursey has filed a countersuit in response to a lawsuit filed by a legislative staffer last month.
The Democrat from Symsonia is accused of retaliating against Nicole Cusic, a staffer with the Legislative Research Commission, by moving her to a different office after Cusic complained about Coursey's treatment of interns.
Coursey's countersuit accuses Cusic of libel, slander and defamation of character.

“There are two things driving Ms. Cusic’s lawsuit: money and politics, and not necessarily in that order.”
“Ms. Cusic thinks she sees an opportunity to cash in on other lawsuits previously filed against a retired legislator and the Legislative Research Commission’s former Director by smearing my name and assaulting my character; while my partisan political opponents, with whom Ms. Cusic met before making her outrageously false accusations, think they see an opportunity to do what they have never been able to do at the ballot box.”
“I will not be intimidated by Ms. Cusic or her big city lawyer, nor will I yield one inch to my partisan political opponents. Rather, I will vigorously fight to clear my name and continue working hard to represent the good people of this community who elected me because I have faith that they know truth and character when they see it.”
