Missing kayaker feared dead

WHITE COUNTY, Ill. - A kayaker making his way down the Little Wabash River in White County, Illinois on Saturday is feared dead.

A captain with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources says 55-year-old Wilfred Nobles of Mount Vernon, Indiana may be stuck in a log jam.

Nobles was with friends when they say the current took him under water and he never resurfaced.

WHITE COUNTY, Ill. - Illinois Department of Natural Resources officers are conducting a search and recovery mission on the Little Wabash River.

IDNR Captain Jerry Hiller says 55 year-old Wilfred Nobles of Mt. Vernon, Indiana was kayaking with two friends around 12:30 Saturday afternoon when the current took him downstream.

Captain Hiller says Nobles may be caught up in a log jam.  Hiller says the current is too strong for any divers to be in the water, but IDNR officers are on boats conducting the recovery.
