WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. - The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a collision that occurred at the railroad overpass at the intersection of Corinth Road and Droit City Road.

It happened at approximately 6:36 a.m. on Friday morning. A semi truck and trailer combination, whose driver was following directions from a GPS, attempted to drive underneath the railroad trestle. The overpass is low and is marked by warning signs, which the driver did not see. The top of his trailer struck the railroad trestle.

The driver was not injured, nor was his truck damaged, but the trailer was destroyed.

The railroad is back in use after railroad personnel determined it was still structurally sound. The roadway is expected to be reopened by 4:00 p.m.
