 WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says Mitt Romney has "doubled down on his commitment to gut Social Security and end Medicare as we know it" by making Congressman Paul Ryan his vice presidential pick.

Reid says the choice shows that "catering to the tea party and the far-right is more important" to Romney than standing up for the middle class.
